Warhammer 40,000 (known to many as Warhammer 40k) is set in the 41st millennium where man relies on legions of genetically altered super humans called space marines and the millions of lumbering imperial guard tanks to defend themselves from the multitude of enemies that surround it. Hordes of orks infest whole solar systems, tyranid beasts devour all before them and leave nothing behind and the forces of chaos slowly increase their influence, and that's just a handful of the threats one faces in the grim 41st millennium.
Warhammer 40,000 uses a turn based system where players alternate in moving, shooting and assaulting with all their models. The game play can be fast if both players have a good grasp of the rules and there are a few different missions provided in the rule book which add variety to the game play.
The mechanic used is based on the probability of rolling a certain number on a six sided dice in most instances, which provides an easy to understand and pick up method of play.
Required Accessories: Tape measure, templates, dice (D6), dice (scatter), rulebook, codex for each army playing.
Warhammer 40,000 has evolved through many different stages of rules systems (editions).
